Living in Otaniemi - Very first Picnic!!!

Today the sun rose over the horizon at 5:59, the average temperature has been 15ºC, the snow is melting more and more so the grass has reappeared in Otaniemi and we are also having one os the sunniest Sundays of this spring term 2011.

The kids are taking the landscape as their personal courtyard again, returning their happiness to Otaniemi inhabitants. The surroundings are full of details that worth our attention.

There are still some days for Wappu, but people are already celebrating the arrival of the Spring. Party atmosphere almost everywhere, people wearing overalls, music in the street and smelling barbecue in the campus. The party building in Jämeräntaival is back to work, although it never stopped.

On this lovely sunny Sunday we have done our best, a nice picnic lunch at the architecture department courtyard. Those 15ºC have been amazing. Somehow it looks like Wappu will be an intense week...

We had some Fazer chocolates and watermelon for dessert. Of course some finnish beers and loads of sun.

Actually is very nice to have lunch in the department where we study. Once more, thank you guys fr this lovely lunch. I must repeat that living in Otaniemi is amazing.

After this post, I think we can definitely give a warm welcome to this Spring 2011 in Finland. I will miss the snowy days, but spring looks very sweet in here. Let's see what's next!

btw, today are the elections in Finland.
